The orchestra is made up of a permanent staff of 49 professors who have been reinforced through public competitions to fill the existing vacancies, all of them chosen professionals trained in the best Conservatories in the world.

Since its creation, the Orquesta Sinfónica de la Región de Murcia has developed an intense activity as a privileged instrument for the promotion and dissemination of classical music through concerts and artistic, educational and informative activities, aimed at fulfilling its foundational purposes: the projection, transmission and dissemination of musical wealth outside its territorial scope.

Multi-award-winning classical guitarist Marko Topchii was born to a musical family in Ukraine, in 1991. His prodigious achievements are best exemplified by his numerous competition victories: More than 100 awards worldwide in international classical guitar competitions, 55 of them being First Prizes in prestigious competitions including the 54th International Guitar Competition Francisco Tarrega, the 35th International Guitar Competition Andres Segovia in Spain, the 50th International Guitar Competition Michele Pittaluga in Italy, the 6th JoAnn Falletta International Guitar Concerto Competition in New York, the 16th Jan Edmund Jurkowski Memorial Guitar Competition in Poland, the Maurizio Biasini competition in San Francisco, the 56th Tokyo International Guitar Competition and most recently, the 2023 Guitar Foundation of America International Concert Artist Competition in New York.


Marko Topchii has appeared in the world’s most important venues, including the Carnegie Hall in New York, Yamaha Ginza Hall in Tokyo, Salle Cortot in Paris, Grand Hall of the Kyiv Philharmonic, Grand Hall of Liszt Academy in Budapest, among others. He often collaborates with orchestras, having performed more than 15 concertos for guitar and orchestra. His discography includes the albums Marko Topchii on Naxos’ Fleur de Son Classics label (US) and Stars of the Guitar with the Buffalo Philharmonic Orchestra (as the winner of the Michele Pittaluga competition) on Naxos, as well as Van Gogh Fire and Carnival (following his win in the Tarrega Guitar Competition in 2021) on the Contrastes Records label in Spain.


Marko started studying the guitar at the age of four, under Volodymyr Homenyuk, and graduated from the Kharkiv Conservatory at the age of 21, where he studied under Volodymyr Dotsenko, an Honoured Artist of Ukraine. He continued with a three-year postgraduate programme at the Kyiv Music Academy under Yuri Aleksik, Honoured Artist of Ukraine. In 2018, he joined the professional studies programme of the San Francisco Conservatory in the class of Judicaёl Perroy, with whom he continued his studies at Haute Ecole de Musique de Geneve as part of the Master Soloiste programme.


Marko Topchii uses strings provided by Augustine and plays a Julian Dammann guitar.

Her unique sound and her devotion towards chamber music and collaborative projects has carried her to major concert halls of cities such as London (Milton Court, Southbank Centre, Kings Place), Paris (Salle Cortot), Saint Petersburg  (Glasunov Hall), Moscow (Scriabin Museum, Instituto Cervantes), Barcelona (L’Auditori), Madrid (Círculo de Bellas Artes), Edinburgh, Brussels (European Comission), Varsaw (Lutoslawsky Hall, Teatr Imka), Crackow, Mexico City, Chicago, Bethlehem, Auckland… and performed in several festivals such as: City of London Festival, Bath Guitar Festival, London Guitar Festival, Buxton Festival, Kings Place Festival, Edinburgh Guitar Festival, Edinburgh Fringe Festival, Barcelona Guitar Festival, Vaults Festival, Chicago Physical Festival, Almagro Classical Theatre Festival, Festival de Teatro Clásico Ciudad de México, Francisco Tárrega Guitar Festival, Áureo Herrero Guitar Festival, Clásicos en Verano, FIAS Madrid, Mediterranean Guitar Festival, Festival Stanislao Marco, Festival de Guitarra de l’Hospitalet de l’Infant, etc.

She lived in London from 2008 to 2017, developing a concert career where her facet as an arranger and composer was an essential element. This is the case of projects such as MCQ Iberian Colors, an original ensemble with whom she recorded two albums: Iberian Colors (2015, Convivium Record Int.), y Danzas, Canciones y Nanas (2018, JSM Records). Other relevant London projecs were the theatrical production Don Quixote de la Mancha (Little Soldier Productions), the musical The Last Five Years (Barbican Centre, 2010), and the classical duets with flutist Lucy Driver (Premi Pro-Musicis 2013) and soprano Laura Ruhí-Vidal.

In 2017 she returned to Barcelona, where she combines her career as an instrumentalist (projects such as Naisa Duo, Libere ensemble and other collaborations including Cor de Cambra del Palau de la Música) with her activity as a composer. She was awarded the Second Prize in the I Llobet Composition Competition for guitar, the Second Prize in the Maria de Pablos III International Composition Competition (Don Juan de Borbón Foundation), the first prize at the Maria de Pablos IV Int. Comp. Contest, and was selected by the SGAE Foundation for the 2020 and 2021 premiere incentives. She premiered her work for string quartet “Nóos”, commissioned by the FIAS 2021 festival (Madrid), and performed by the Bauhaus Quartet. In 2022, she realised the arrangement for guitar duo of the works by E. Escudé-Cofiner, published by Boileau Music. Nowadays, she collaborates with Fundación Cofiner and JSM Records in an ongoing project of arrangements for solo guitar of works by E. Escudé-Cofiner. Her compositions for guitar and chamber music have been performed in Spain, France, UK, USA, Belgium and Austria.

In 2022, she released the albums Keep My Cows, SXVI and XVII revisited (together with pianist and improviser Carles Marigó) and Somorrostro, el mar baila en la playa (together with guitarist Anders Clemens Oien). This year will be published the album París-Barcelona, with Libere Ensemble.

Maria completed her studies in Classical Performance at the Escola Superior de Música de Catalunya in Barcelona. Graduating with a distinction in her Master Studies at the Guildhall School of Music and Drama, she was awarded the prestigious Guildhall Artist Fellowship from 2010-12. Her main artistic influences are Emilio Molina, Feliu Gasull, David Dolan, Christian Burgess and Ramon Humet.

Manuel Álvarez Ugarte (Buenos Aires, 1975) is a guitarist, charanguista, bandoneon player, composer and teacher.
Between 1999 and 2020 he lived in Madrid, where he developed an intense activity as a teacher, professional musician and record producer.

As a composer he explores the resonances of the roots music of Argentina and Latin America.

Luis Alejandro García has been praised by international critics as “an extraordinary musical storyteller” (L’Arena di Verona), and is one of the most awarded Spanish guitarists of his generation, as attested by his more than 30 international prizes, among them the First Prize in the ‘Viseu International Competition’, the ‘José Tomás – Villa de Petrer’ Prize, ‘El Primer Palau’ Prize, the Linares ‘Andrés Segovia’ Prize, the ‘Ciudad de Coria’ International Competition or the Festival Internazionale di Chitarra ‘Gemona del Friuli’.

In continuous growth, his career has led him to debut in prestigious venues such as the Musikverein in Vienna, the Palau de la Música Catalana, the Teatro Monumental, or the Alfredo Kraus Auditorium, and his tours have reached Germany, Italy, the United States, Austria, Chile, Argentina, Brazil, Andorra or a large part of Spain. He has also performed as a soloist with orchestras such as the Spanish National Radio and Television Orchestra, the Gran Canaria Philharmonic Orchestra, the Vallès Symphony Orchestra, the Tenerife Symphony Orchestra or the Canary Islands Chamber Orchestra, under the batons of Karel Mark Chichon, Óliver Díaz, Xaver Puig, Luis Miguel Méndez or Alessandro Palumbo. Luis Alejandro has made numerous recordings, including his latest solo CD,  “Reflejos” (JSM Guitar Records, 2021), effusively received by critics: “A reference album for this repertoire and for the very concept of the album […]. A masterful performance” (Melomano Magazine) .

His solo activity is complemented by the chamber music, as a member of the Canary Guitar Quartet, with which he has received international awards, in addition to having released his first record, “21” and Dalek Dúo, a timple and guitar innovative ensemble in its format that currently presents its first record, ‘Diálogo entre Raíces’.

His next commitments include tours of different places in Spain, Italy, Germany, the United States, Brazil, Mexico and Argentina.  Luis Alejandro García plays with Vicente Carrillo guitars and Knobloch Strings.
