Manuel Álvarez Ugarte (Buenos Aires, 1975) is a guitarist, charanguista, bandoneon player, composer and teacher.
Between 1999 and 2020 he lived in Madrid, where he developed an intense activity as a teacher, professional musician and record producer.

As a composer he explores the resonances of the roots music of Argentina and Latin America.

Luis Alejandro García has been praised by international critics as “an extraordinary musical storyteller” (L’Arena di Verona), and is one of the most awarded Spanish guitarists of his generation, as attested by his more than 30 international prizes, among them the First Prize in the ‘Viseu International Competition’, the ‘José Tomás – Villa de Petrer’ Prize, ‘El Primer Palau’ Prize, the Linares ‘Andrés Segovia’ Prize, the ‘Ciudad de Coria’ International Competition or the Festival Internazionale di Chitarra ‘Gemona del Friuli’.

In continuous growth, his career has led him to debut in prestigious venues such as the Musikverein in Vienna, the Palau de la Música Catalana, the Teatro Monumental, or the Alfredo Kraus Auditorium, and his tours have reached Germany, Italy, the United States, Austria, Chile, Argentina, Brazil, Andorra or a large part of Spain. He has also performed as a soloist with orchestras such as the Spanish National Radio and Television Orchestra, the Gran Canaria Philharmonic Orchestra, the Vallès Symphony Orchestra, the Tenerife Symphony Orchestra or the Canary Islands Chamber Orchestra, under the batons of Karel Mark Chichon, Óliver Díaz, Xaver Puig, Luis Miguel Méndez or Alessandro Palumbo. Luis Alejandro has made numerous recordings, including his latest solo CD,  “Reflejos” (JSM Guitar Records, 2021), effusively received by critics: “A reference album for this repertoire and for the very concept of the album […]. A masterful performance” (Melomano Magazine) .

His solo activity is complemented by the chamber music, as a member of the Canary Guitar Quartet, with which he has received international awards, in addition to having released his first record, “21” and Dalek Dúo, a timple and guitar innovative ensemble in its format that currently presents its first record, ‘Diálogo entre Raíces’.

His next commitments include tours of different places in Spain, Italy, Germany, the United States, Brazil, Mexico and Argentina.  Luis Alejandro García plays with Vicente Carrillo guitars and Knobloch Strings.

Laura Verdugo del Rey

Guitar concert and professor at the Royal Conservatory of Madrid and Master Guitar Maastricht (Netherlands).

Laura Verdugo del Rey was born in Toledo (Spain). She started her guitar studies at the age of 8 years in the Municipal School of Music in Santa Cruz de la Zarza (Toledo), completing his undergraduate education across the Conservatory of Music Alcázar San Juan-Campo de Criptana (Ciudad Real), earning honors and extraodinario Award Intermediate Guitar. Later she joined the Madrid Royal Conservatory to complete her musical studies with Professor Guitar Demetrio Ballesteros, earning the title of Superior Professor of Guitar with the highest ratings.

Cultural Manager with the European University Miguel de Cervantes with a Master Degree in Direction and Management of Cultural Industries.

Laura offers concerts and masterclass for various auditoriums of the Spanish geography and for countries such as Holland, Italy, Iceland, Belgium, Germany, Greece, United States; in turn she is a juror in prestigious international competitions.

She has performed as a soloist with different orchestras such as Sta. Cecilia de Simpelveld Orchestra (Holland), S. Petrus Orchestra in Maastricht (Holland), Nova Cámera Orchestra of Madrid, among others.

She has made recordings for the TV producer Globo Media, and has been a member of different chamber music formations, currently being a member of the Ensemble Lilith.

Artistic Director of the Andrés Segovia International Festival for two years, she is currently Director of the International Guitar Festival of Madrid. 

She currently combines her concert work with that of a guitar teacher at the Higher Center Enseñanza Musical Katarina Gurska in Madrid.

Kianush Robeson

Kianush came to the classical guitar relativley late in life at the age of 19 and was self taught until being accepted to study with John Mills at the Royal Welsh College of Music. Kianush graduated from the Royal Welsh College of Music in 2018 1st class with honours where he studied with where whilst studying he won the John Mills guitar prize. Kianush has participated in many international competitions and won a gold award in the IFA International Classical Guitar Competiton in 2020 placed as finalist in the Houston International Guitar Competition 2021 and semi-finalist in the London Guitar Competition 2020.

Teaching and Guitar Festivals

As a teacher Kianush has become one of the most respected educators in the country with his pupils often gaining scholarships at highly selective conservatoires and he has been a regular tutor for many years at the prestigious Royal Greenwich Classical Guitar Festival held at Trinity Laban Conservatoire where he has given lectures on technique, interpretation and nail fundamentals as well as leading chamber groups and the guitar orchestra. For two years he taught at the Royal Welsh College of Music’s music for the blind summer school providing one to one lessons for the course participants we here developed new methods for teaching those hard of sight. Kianush currently holds the head of guitar post at the Royal Grammar School for Boys High Wycombe overseeing the tuition of 30+ pupils, leading ensembles and organsing school recitals. 

Impressions of Segovia

 Inspird by his teacher John Mills, Kianush dedicated his most recent concert tour and first album recording to the guitarist Andres Segovia with an exploration of his unique techniques and tonal colours with his own impression and unique musical voice. He has toured extensively throughout the south coast of England with his new programme ‘Impressions of Segovia’ and which is much loved by audiences who praise his tone and musical sensitivity. This success has led to a landmark recording of the programme in Spain with the recording artist Javier Salvador to be released in early 2024.

Julia Villarroel

Julia Villarroel is an international soloist whose career began at a very young age in her home country, having performed hundreds of solo, ensemble, and guitar duo concerts inside and outside her country. She was involved in the cultural movement “Guitarrea” organizing over seven international festivals, where she performed in the most renowned theaters in Ecuador.

Between 2010 and 2016, while living in Ecuador, she won several international competitions, some of them being the youngest and only women among the contestants. She traveled to international festivals in Spain and Venezuela sponsored by the Ministry of Culture of Ecuador and recorded 2 CDs in Ensemble and duo respectively. Due to her extensive musical career at such a young age, Julia was named a “Member of the Culture House of Ecuador” in 2016.

Julia began her higher education in Vigo, Spain, with the Professor Margarita Escarpa. She graduated in 2021 with the highest honors and received a “Matricula de Honor”. Her final thesis on the “History of Academic Guitar in Ecuador” received the same top marks.

She began her master’s degree in 2021 at the Franz Liszt University of Music in Weimar with Professor Thomas Müller-Pering, graduating with the highest honors. Thanks to her long-standing career, she has received annual scholarships, including the “Deutschlandstipendium” and the “Charlotte-Krupp Stipendium.”

“Salgado en seis cuerdas” (“Salgado in Six Strings”) is a self-managed project consisting of 40 minutes of piano music by the Ecuadorian composer Luis Humberto Salgado transcribed for guitar by herself. The CD “Salgado en seis cuerdas” (JSM Records) was released in December 2023 with the collaboration of Lucija Štivčević and the sponsorship of the Neue Liszt Stiftung. The music scores will be published with JSM Editions in the upcoming months.

As an orchestral soloist, Julia has performed the “Concierto de Aranjuez” in Spain and Germany. Her orchestral repertoire also includes “Concierto del Sur” by Ponce and Salgado’s “Ecuadorian Concerto”.

In April 2025 Julia will begin the Konzertexamen (Concert Examination) with Professor Ricardo Gallén.
