PERFORMER
Alberto Daniel Quintanilla (b. 1998, Salamanca, Mexico) is widely recognized as one of the most accomplished Mexican guitarists of his generation. A graduate of the Conservatorio de las Rosas in Morelia, Mexico, he earned his degree with honorable mention under the guidance of Professor Rodrigo Nefthalí.
Quintanilla has earned more than 50 prizes in national and international guitar competitions. His accolades include first prizes in several of Mexico’s most prestigious competitions, such as the Culiacán International Guitar Competition, the International Guitar Competition in Paracho, the Silvestre Revueltas Guitar Competition, and the National Guitar Competition of Mexico in Saltillo, Coahuila. Internationally, he has also achieved notable success, including second prize at the Guitar Foundation of America’s International Youth Competition (Senior Division) and first prizes at the Queen’s University Competition, the Columbus State University Guitar Symposium and Competition, the Chicago Guitar Competition, the Southwest Guitar Symposium and Competition, the Indiana International Guitar Competition, the Ciudad de Mula International Guitar Competition (Spain), and the José Tomás International Guitar Competition in Villa de Petrer, Spain.
Beyond his solo career, Quintanilla has collaborated with several orchestras in Mexico, collaborating with distinguished conductors such as Gordon Campbell and Román Revueltas. He is also a founding member of Cuarteto Curicaueri, a guitar quartet dedicated to promoting Mexican and Latin American repertoire.
He is currently pursuing a Performance Certificate at the University of Wisconsin–Milwaukee, where he completed his master’s degree under the mentorship of Professor René Izquierdo. He performs on a guitar handcrafted by renowned Mexican luthier Abel García López and is sponsored by Knobloch Strings.
