ANTONIO
Molina
COMPOSER & PERFORMER
Antonio Molina (Cartagena, 1999) is a guitarist and composer whose musical language emerges from the very essence of the instrument.
The resonance of the guitar shapes the composition from its core, serving as the source from which all musical gestures arise. His music, infused with an expanded modal harmony, draws inspiration from literature, as seen in Sonatina, a tribute to Paul Auster and his novel Mr. Vertigo. Personalities such as Carlo Marchione, Simone Ianarelli, and Antonio Duro have praised his talent as a composer.
After completing his performance studies at the Conservatorio Superior de Música de Murcia with Carmen María Ros and Fernando Espí, graduating with the highest honors, he continued his education with Carlo Marchione at Conservatorium Maastricht, where he earned his master’s degree cum laude. Additionally, he studied composition with Álvaro
López and has taken lessons with renowned maestros such as Marco Smaili, Álex Garrobé, Pedro Mateo, Margarita Escarpa, and Pavel Steidl.
As a performer, he has been awarded prizes in several competitions, including 2nd prize at the Ciudad de Mula International Guitar Competition, 3rd prize at the José Tomás – Villa de Petrer International Guitar Competition, and 1st prize at Entre Cuerdas y Metales. He has also been a finalist in competitions such as Juventudes Musicales de España and the Ciutat d’Elx International Guitar Competition.
As a composer, his piece Trazos de aire was awarded 2nd prize and the Special “Bergmann Edition” Prize at the 1st Composer Competition of the Aalborg Guitar Festival & Competitions 2022.
Currently, Antonio combines his work as a performer and composer with teaching at various conservatories in Murcia.
